Legally Blonde

Could this outfit be any more Elle Woods?! I loved Legally Blonde when it was first released, probably because it reminded me a lot of myself. I love pink, I love getting dressed up, I can be a little ditzy sometimes (we’ve all been there!), but at the end of the day, I am a bright and intelligent young women and I can do anything I set my mind to. Hell – all of you can do the same too!!

This blog is the perfect example of that! For years I would look at other blogs, whether they were fashion, food or fitness related, and wish that I could do the same. Not for recognition, not for money, but for my own personal goals and hobbies. Fashion has always been an important aspect of my life and I wanted to create an avenue for me to talk about style, and show my visions and creations with the world.

Finally one day I decided to try to create a website (figuring if I got the site right, I would get up the courage to ask Joe to take pictures of me). Well…being the perfectionist that I am, I could never get the site to look just how I wanted. Being Type A is a serious struggle with everything in life lol. Well nevertheless, my disappointment in myself put my blog on hold – again.

A few months after this, I was sitting at home surfing the web and decided “the hell with it”! Joe was out of town so I had no one to take pictures, but I published my first post about lipstick and I used every selfie I had to show how different shades could look on one person. I put it on Instagram and got like 10 likes. And 4 people visited my site that day! To me, that was successful considering I always figured that the blog atmosphere was oversaturated and no one would care about my voice.

The next post, I got up the courage to ask Joe to take pictures of me. It was incredibly awkward considering I am not a model, I don’t know how to pose, we were using an iPhone for pictures and I have no idea how to edit. That post got like 10 views!

After my third post, I decided to make some serious edits to my site. I wanted to align my look with other bloggers who’s websites I adored and decided that if this was something I was going to seriously continue, my site needed a new look. Guess what? My site ended up crashing mid-way through changes and it deleted all of my posts….back to square one.

This was a pivotal moment for me. I could give up and stop the idea of blogging (for a third time) or I could just get over it and move forward. Guess we know how that turned out :)
I guess my point of this long blog post is that you can do anything you set your mind to. After I quit comparing my site against others, and just turned it into something that I was proud of and enjoyed, my blog continued to grow. So maybe you just started a blog and have no idea what to do next, or maybe you’ve always dreamed of starting one – just do it!! And email me and we will figure out this crazy roller coaster together :)
