Design State of Mind

What’s pink and green, with sparkles all over?!

This outfit of course!! I am a sucker for all things sparkly. Always have been, probably always will be. I love rhinestones and sequins because they always catch my eye and they add texture to clothing…two things that I LOVE!

In the world of fashion, it’s hard to create items that truly stand apart from all the other items on the rack.  I mean, think about it….if you love fashion as much as I do, you’ve probably dreamed of having your own fashion line one day (or maybe it’s just me!). But then every time I actually think of how I would reinvent clothes, and create items that a consumer couldn’t live without, I get stuck. Between the pattern, the print, the style – what on Earth could I create that I would see hanging in a store and know I  had to have it in my closet?!

This Francesca’s Harper top! This top is exactly the thing I would create! It’s brightly colored, which is usually what I find myself gravitating toward, although I swear if you’re a loyal reader of the blog, YOU’RE THE BEST, but you’d think I only wear black and white! The past few posts have all been some variation of this monochromatic look (see herehere and here), but I think it’s just a phase – so I should be back to my colorful self soon :)

I’ve paired this top with a green Express pencil skirt for a more playful, but professional look, but you could pair this top with jeans or leather pants and I’d still love it just as much.

Pop quiz: What is one item you would create if you were a fashion designer?
