Think Pink!

6:56 PM

Wow, so glad you decided to stop back by the blog! I know, it’s has been too long since my last post, so let me clue you in on what has been keeping me from posting.

Dogs, weather, travel, exhaustion, work, life, and did I mention exhaustion?!

Dogs: Little background – did you know having a puppy is practically like having a baby?? She needs constant supervision, it up all hours of the night, and the sleep deprivation has taken such a toll on me that I took 5 naps on Sunday!! She is certainly adorable and cuddly and her puppy kisses are the cutest, but if she doesn’t learn to sleep soon, I’m going to need a hotel!

Weather: I mean Chicago skipped right on over Fall and jumped straight into uber cold, bone chilling weather. I’m talking 40’s, some day 50’s and the wind has been out of control. Don’t believe me, just wait until you see some future blog posts. I had the luxury of working with photographer Megan Lusher (love her! If you are in the Chicago area, she is awesome and highly recommended!) over the weekend, and even though we were handed some of the worst weather a blogger can imagine (High winds, rain, cold temperatures), that’s life and we persevered. Stay tuned for those blog posts coming soon!

Travel: Joe has been traveling for work – a lot. And coming home much later from work than I am used to. Not to mention it is getting darker outside, earlier and earlier. It is making it really difficult to rearrange our schedules to accommodate blog pictures. And on the weekends, we’ve been traveling, which has just added to the stress.

Exhaustion, Work, Life &  More Exhaustion – I’m sure you can imagine but with everything that is going on, I am flat out exhausted. Lack of sleep has led to lack of motivation for being stylish, being creative and for doing anything that does not involve sleep. I know, I know – it’s really not an excuse, but you wouldn’t believe how much work goes into running a blog! And this is my second job! I work a full 8 – 10 hour work day before I even come home and start working on the blog!
To tide you over until I can get some fashion posts back up on the blog, I wanted to use this opportunity to talk about October and the fact that it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Each and every one of us has been affected by breast cancer to some capacity. Statistics says that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer in their lifetime and that Breast Cancer is the second leading killer of women. I have always been passionate about Breast Cancer Awareness, and I encourage all of you to take some time this month to learn more, educate others, give time, donate money, and spread awareness about this cause!

Additionally I am including a bunch of links below to stores that are donating proceeds to breast cancer awareness, as well as my personal donation page for the American Cancer Society – Making Strides Chicago Walk. Together, we can put an end to this terrible disease!

Remember me talking about this awesome bra in my last post (see here). For Breast Cancer Awareness, Silly b has changed up their signature red packaging and opted for a limited edition THINK PINK bag in support of breast cancer. $5.00 from every purchase will be donated directly to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Also, you can still score 10% of your purchase with promo code HALLOWEEN10 :)

Stay warm and fashionable with this adorable DVF pink scarf. All $98 from the purchase of this scarf will be donated directly to Bright Pink, a breast and ovarian cancer research organization.

Who doesn’t love Eos lip balm?! I mean, I see people with these everywhere!! Buy this two-pack Eos package anytime between now and November,  and all proceeds will go to benefit breast cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, a New York-based cancer treatment and research institution founded in 1884.

As part of the Pink Pony campaign, Ralph Lauren will donate 100% of proceeds from the sale of their fragrance Midnight Romance and Romance to the Pink Pony Fund to fight Breast Cancer.

Through the Pink Thread Project, Lands’ End will join forces with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. 75% of the cost for every pink thread monogram and embroidery goes directly to BCRF. Trust me when I say, the things that can be monogrammed are endless!

Dry shampoo is a must have in my beauty regimen, so what better time to stock up than when it goes to support a good cause! $1 from every purchase of Drybar's Detox Dry Shampoo will be donated directly City of Hope's Breast Cancer Research.

I don't know about you, but I certainly don't need to be told twice to eat a cupcake! During the month of October, KitchenAid will donate $1 to Susan G. Komen for every cupcake image shared on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtags #10000cupcakes and #donate (must be used collectively). Get to baking ladies!

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks are among the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation. This year, my company is participating in walks all across the country. Feel free to donate money to the walk by clicking here.

Let's end this disease once and for all!
