Apartment Facelift

7:29 PM

One of my biggest complaints about living in an apartment, is how small it feels. Real estate in and around Chicago is a little pricey, and since Joe and I are currently saving for our wedding, we have comprised on space in order to save in the long run. In theory this is the right decision, and he and I both know it, but there are some days when I just look around the apartment and instantly start feeling claustrophobic.
So every few months or so, Joe and I give our little apartment a facelift. We do some heavy cleaning, we rearrange furniture and we buy a few new things for the space to make it feel like new. This weekend we devoted to our bedroom!
This poor bed has been through 5 moves, so the fact that it is still standing and in really great condition truly amazes me. A few weeks ago I got an email from Kate Spade (always a dangerous email to start the day) releasing the new home line, including furniture (all of which I WANT!), and more bedding and china. I stumbled across this Harlem Stripe bedding and fell in love. I am a complete sucker for all things stripes (and Kate Spade) so this was so dreamy and needed to find a way into my home.
And don't even get me started on the little pops of green! I happen to be quite fond of green in the home ever since I read an article on how the color green is believed to reduce stress and promote relaxation. It's an old article that you can read by clicking here.
I could not be happier with this decision. Although I didn’t sleep very well last night (I blame the dogs!), I woke up refreshed and happy and loving our new space. The comforter is big and bulky, which sounds like a bad thing, but is just how I like to be bundled when sleeping. The bigger the comforter, the better I sleep!
So all you ladies living in small quarters...try a few new accessories in the house, or a new duvet or comforter to give your place a new vibe. You won't regret it!
