Boys=Mars, Women=Venus

Let’s take this back a few years…to when I was a young tot, looking through fashion catalogues because internet didn’t exist. At least not in my house! I can remember shopping catalogues being delivered to my house and I always spent time browsing through the pages, picking out my favorites and pining over the fact that I inevitably wasn’t going to be able to afford the clothes on the pages. Why? Because I didn’t have a job people…I was like 10! Um, hello – labor laws!

Anyway, one of my favorite catalogues was from a company called Venus. The clothes on the pages were always ultra chic, and the women were even chic-er (is that a word?!). Anyway, I can remember someone asking me what I wanted to be when I grew up, and while at that time I truly wanted to be a princess, astronaut or ballerina (such a shame none of those professions pined out for me…), I remember saying “I don’t care what I am, as long as I can wear high heels every day and get super dressed up in suits like the girls in this catalogue.”

What was I thinking, right?! Fast forward some years and here I am, thanking my lucky stars that I don’t have to wear a suit and heels every day, lol – but glad I still get that sense of accomplishment that I couldn’t quite explain when I was 10 years old. Also, now that I am employed I can actually afford some of the gorgeous items in the Venus catalogue, which seemed a lot more expensive when I was 10, but this whole outfit was less than $100! Holla!!

The best way to describe their clothes would be if a CEO and a Fashion Stylist had a baby and that baby wanted clothes that transitioned from the board room to the bar easily. That kinda explains it…right? If not, I've been referring to this dress as the mullet. Sounds terrible, but just like a mullet is "business in the front, party in the back" this dress is "business with a blazer, party without it!"

This dress….ohhh…this dress!! I love it. Although without a blazer, probably not the most appropriate thing for work (I guess it depends on where you work – but definitely not acceptable where I work – let’s put it that way!). But with a blazer, it’s perfect! It’s stylish and chic, but professional and it transitions so easily into a happy hour that you are certain to have a few people asking what you do for a living! My momma always used to tell me that you never know who you are going to meet…your future spouse, your next boss or even your next best friend…so putting your best foot forward is always a good idea. And how can you not put your best foot forward in shoes like these, right?!
