So I may have been feeling a little spunky this past weekend and I decided to try a little something different with this mane of hair I have. Aside from being super long (but seriously, I need a haircut STAT), it’s also pretty thick so more times than not lately, I really haven’t felt like doing much with it. Blame it on the fact that I didn’t wash it (no surprise there!), or the fact that I have been watching countless hours of Gossip Girl and taking hair hints from Serena (AKA: Blake Lively – hair goddess!), but I decided to forgo the top knot or straight and simple hair styles for a fun new ponytail.

But what compliments a spunky new do’ more than a fun and adventurous new outfit, right?! I can always count on Zara to provide one-of-a-kind statement pieces, this dress being no exception. I spotted it on a store window mannequin a few months back, and I couldn’t even make it through the car ride home before ordering it online – thank Gosh for mobile devices!
The true surprise came later when the dress arrived at my apartment and it was completely backless. Okay, so maybe not completely backless, but I’m not sure how ‘covered’ I would consider this sheer, polka-dot piece of fabric, so let’s just call it backless, shall we? Thankfully, I am not opposed to a ris-kay outfit, so I instantly took the dress to the tailor (I could make a second dress out of the fabric that needed to be removed from the length) and have been waiting impatiently for warmer weather so I could take this baby for a spin.

The embroidered animals on the front of this dress really kicked my love of the embroidery trend that I’ve been seeing lately, into gear. I’ve found myself gravitating more and more to boho-chic, embroidered tops and dresses – so much so, that I even created a bohemian themed wish-list of items I’ve spotted that need to find a way into my closet. I’ve included the list below just in case y’all were into this trend too :)

PS: I’ve been using some new products on my hair lately that I’m really loving. I am usually a loyal fan of the Kerastase brand, but as of recently I’ve been trying out the Agadir Argan Oil products which are working wonders on my hair from the dry, summer heat. Now, if I could just control all those baby hairs and flyaways!
